In a new departure, working closely with Staffordshire University’s Law School,
Stoke CAB has welcomed eight legal practice certificate students into the
bureau as part of the Law School’s Street Law Project.
This project seeks to give law students practical work based experience for one
day a week to compliment their academic studies.
Most of the students have used this as an opportunity to undertake additional
training in advice work before going on to provide advice by email, work on social
policy campaigns or help with essential support tasks such as monitoring.
“This is another very welcome partnership arrangement between Staffordshire University
and the CAB. This adds to the placements we have had from the Advice Work Degree and
Diploma courses and these partnerships show how local organisations can work together
for the benefit of the local community,” said Training and Volunteer Support Manager
Chris Cawley.
