Like the people who come to us for help, our team is made up of people from very different ages, racial and class backgrounds. We have women and men, both black and white people, lesbians and gay men, people with disabilities, single parents, people with little money and some with more.

We are very keen to have as mixed a team as we can. We particularly want to encourage you to join us if you are black or Asian, have disabilities, or are lesbian or gay. There are regular regional meetings for CAB workers who are Black/Asian, and Lesbian, Gay and Bisexual.

We recruit about 60 new volunteer workers each year -

Each year over 50 new volunteers successfully complete the new competence-based national CAB training programme, accredited through the Open College Network. They are people like you - they needed no qualifications or special experience to be successful - only a desire to help and willingness to accept the challenge.

About twenty volunteers leave to take up paid employment each year. Others leave to care for someone or to retire.

If you would like to become a volunteer, make sure you read the information on these pages, then click here to fill in an application form.
